Although there was significant improvement in the lives of black people through the Success of the civil rights movement by the late 1960s, there were withal some failures and aspects that the civil rights movement had not achieved. These failures were social, economical, political and cultural. These failures included the fact that some laws were not upheld. Black people saw this as an injustice and pain and as a failure economically. There was unemployment to a certain degree amongst the black community, as over 10% of black people were unemployed. This could be think to poverty and poor quality of schooling and education Poverty and the condition of living and housing was a major issue in 1967, when one trinity of black families were living below the governments poverty level in comparison to under 10% of white people who were living below the governments poverty level.
